The outbreak of COVID-19 has uncovered the extent to which sudden, unexpected change and uncertainty can disrupt our lives. As many of us adapted to working from home for the very first time, some of us had to deal with the added challenges of caretaking, managing personal health and feeling isolated during lockdown.
While these changes have undoubtedly taken a toll on our stress levels, we’ve also found positive ways to adapt to our new reality. Whether it’s picking up a new hobby, spending more time with family, or starting a new exercise routine, we’ve developed new habits that many of us hope to carry on past shelter-in-place (and some less healthy habits we hope to leave behind).
The Positive Change campaign kit is an internal campaign that helps showcase some of the positive changes we’ve recently made in our lives. It gives employees a chance to discuss their wellness and coping strategies with openness, honesty and humor. This is how it works:
- Decide on a timeline for posts. We recommend posting once weekly for a month.
- Create a post in a company-wide discussion group and add one of the downloadable gifs in the kit. In the body of your post, encourage people to fill in the blank and tell a bit of the story behind it in the comments. For the first post, we encourage you to share your own examples to show everyone how it’s done.
- Engage with employee responses by adding comments and reactions.
- Share a new post each week with a different one of the 9 gifs in the campaign kit. We recommend you run this gif for a month but you can modify the duration based on employee responses.
